Ocean resources and policy influence have long been inequitable due to racism, colonialism, and industrialization. Meanwhile, marginalized coastal communities face disproportionate impacts from climate change, pollution, overfishing, habitat loss, coastal gentrification, and oil and gas activities.

This event will prioritize the experiences and voices of historically marginalized communities in ocean conservation discussions. The event will feature expert panels, high-level guest speakers, and much more.

Upwell 2026 is hosted by Aquarium Conservation Partnership, Azul, Green 2.0, and Urban Ocean Lab. The planning committee includes, Center for American Progress, Earthjustice, Natural Resources Defense Council, and Ocean Defense Initiative.

We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals to engage fully. To request an accommodation or for inquiries about accessibility—including general inquiries—please contact Maritza Huerta at maritza@thetwinspr.com.

We will share additional event details as we get closer to the event. We hope you can join us!
